Member of Chinese Academy of Engineering since 1994,Honorary Director of China Ship Scientific Research Center Since 1998.

 He graduated from University of Science and Technology China in 1964,received M.Sc.degree in Tsing Hua University in1967,and Ph.D.Degree in Brunel University,UK in 1984.He was the Technical Director of CSSRC(1989-1993),and Director General of CSSRC(1993-1998).He has devoted himself to theoretical  and experimental research of fluid-structure interaction problems(hydro-elasticity),structural dynamics,vibration and underwater explosion mechanics,and techniques of high performance vehicles,etc.He established initiatively the theory of 3-D hydro_elastic mechanics.He was the memeber of ISSC standing Committee(1988-2003),the Secretary of ISSC(1988-1991),and the Chairman of PRADS(1998-2001).At present he is the member of ITTC Exexutive and Adivisory Committee,member of Standing Committee of  PRADS,Chairman of  Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics and the Chinese Society of Vibration Engineering. He is the supervisor of  Ph.D.students since 1986.Due to his achievements in ship science he was elected as the member of Chinese Academy of  Engineering in 1994.
